What makes a backlink toxic?

Toxic backlinks come from domains that Google has discounted or devalued - typically link farms, private blog networks, spam directories, or hacked sites. This tool flags domains ranked below #50,000,000 globally as potentially toxic.

Not every flagged link is harmful - some low-authority sites are legitimate. Use the toxic flag as a starting point for manual review, not an automatic disavow trigger.

Link farms

Sites created solely to sell links, with no real content or audience. Links from these pass no value and may attract penalties.

Private blog networks

Groups of sites controlled by one entity designed to manipulate rankings. Google actively devalues links from known PBNs.

Hacked sites

Legitimate sites that have been compromised and are now hosting spam links. The site owner may not even know.

How to use this tool

The full disavow workflow takes about five minutes.

1

Enter your domain

Type or paste your domain - no need for https://. The tool checks a sample of your backlinks and flags any ranked below #50M globally.

2

Review the toxic domains

Toxic domains are pre-selected and shown at the top. Click any row to deselect false positives - legitimate sites that happen to have a low global rank.

3

Download your disavow file

Click the download button to get a correctly formatted .txt file. Upload it to Google Search Console under Links - Disavow links.
